David Bright, PhD, MHC-LP, NCC

Mental Performance Coach

Dr. David Bright is a mental performance coach who works with attorneys, hedge fund managers, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and athletes. He specializes in helping high-performing individuals navigate complex professional and personal demands with greater clarity, confidence, and effectiveness. His work is grounded in a warm, compassionate, and pragmatic coaching style that supports clients in performing at their best in high-pressure environments.

Drawing from his background as a licensed mental health therapist, executive functioning coach, career coach, and academic, Dr. Bright tailors his approach to the unique needs of each client. His coaching is informed by evidence-based methodologies including cognitive-behavioral, narrative, solution-focused, existential, and psychodynamic frameworks, with the coaching relationship itself serving as the foundation. His style is open, authentic, supportive, and appropriately humorous.

Dr. Bright holds a PhD in Counseling from Penn State University and is a published author, researcher, and professor. He has taught at Penn State University, The University of Oklahoma, Syracuse University, The University of Scranton, and SUNY New Paltz. His areas of expertise include performance psychology, anxiety management, executive functioning, career development and transition.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Bright is a former competitive weightlifter. In high school, he was both his football team’s defensive player of the year and the school chess champion. These experiences continue to inform his work in performance psychology. He is also an avid poker player and creative writer.
