Mental Performance Coach

Courtney Pensavalle is a mental skills coach and mental health counselor who works with adult and adolescent performers and athletes in high-performance environments. A former Division I ice hockey player and assistant captain at Yale University, Courtney brings firsthand experience navigating elite performance systems, leadership demands, and sustained pressure. She is finishing her PhD Program in Counseling at Pace University.

Courtney earned her MA in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from New York University and completed her clinical internship at the NYU Center for Community Counseling and Wellbeing, where she worked with individuals from diverse cultural identities and backgrounds.

Courtney specializes in working with adult and adolescent performers, utilizing a wellness-oriented framework that explores the intersections of physical and psychological health, cultural identity, relational dynamics, and performance demands. She integrates Sport and Performance Psychology with evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), and mindfulness-based approaches.

Courtney utilizes queer- and gender-affirming practices and has significant experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, including trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming clients.
