Amanda Fazio, or “Faz” as athletes know her, is a mental health counselor and Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) specializing in the intersection of mental health and high performance. She works with high-level athletes and performers navigating performance anxiety, injury recovery, identity transitions, and the mental demands of competing under pressure.
A former Division I athlete and collegiate coach, Faz brings a rare blend of lived experience, clinical training, and applied performance psychology to her work. She currently serves as the Mental Performance Consultant for the New York Sirens of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) and previously served as the Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator for the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). She has also led mental performance services for Fordham University Athletics, supporting athletes and coaches across 22 varsity programs.
Amanda holds dual master’s degrees in Sport & Performance Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, allowing her to bridge mental health care with performance development in a practical, athlete-centered way. Her clinical training includes extensive experience at the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) in NYC, one of the nation’s premier outpatient substance use facilities, where she developed expertise in Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and ACT, supporting clients with complex emotional, behavioral, and performance-related challenges. Certified through the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Faz has also trained professional sport coaches, clinicians, and other leaders in high-level communication.
Her work spans sport, performing arts, and endurance spaces, including collaborations with the New York City Ballet, New York Road Runners, and Runner’s World. Whether working one-on-one or with teams, Amanda is known for her grounded, authentic approach, helping clients build resilience, regain confidence, and perform with intention.
Outside of her professional roles, Amanda is also an endurance athlete, having completed multiple half marathons as well as the New York City and London Marathons for charity. She understands firsthand what it takes to train, perform, struggle, adapt, and return stronger.
At the core of her work is a belief that sustainable performance starts with mental health and that athletes and performers deserve support that honors both.
